Hey There ,

I’m often asked if babies will β€œfigure out” sleep all on their own. Β Is there a certain age where they start sleeping through the night?


My answers are sometimes and no. Β Some babies will start to sleep longer stretches all by themselves. Some will start to sleep longer stretches, and then revert back to frequent awakenings, and some become stuck in a pattern of frequent awakenings. Β There’s really no way to predict if and when your child will figure this out.

I like to look at the entire family. Β How is everyone coping? Β Is anyone suffering? Β (Symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety are almost identical to symptoms of sleep deprivation).

The root emotion of β€œtired” is frustration. Β If you, your baby, your baby’s sibling, or your partner are sleep deprived, you’re all going to feel cranky and irritable. Β That’s simply what being tired feels like. Β And that’s no fun at all.

If your current sleep situation is not working for you AND your baby is older than 5Β months, it could be time to work towards better sleep.
